A brief history of Method Seven grow room glasses for those who do not know. They are the OG’s of protective eyewear for growers. Their HPS specific glasses paved the way for colour correcting eyewear that would help growers properly diagnose plant issues under the warm yellow glow of an HPS powered room. They also make protective sunglasses for pilots so you know you’re in good company. They even have glasses to fix the god awful glow of blurple lights… but if you’ve read the LED buying guide you will know to stay away from those.
Why is Eye Protection Necessary?
A recent reddit thread highlights the importance of using grow room glasses. The OP posted their story to warn others:
I’m 1.5 weeks into my first flower cycle so I’m admittedly verrrrry green. The past few months I’ve been dealing with blurry vision and some headaches. It was a bit concerning because it would come and go. I had lasik a few years ago so I figured it was regressing but I was nervous it was something worse. I went to the eye doctor and he said my vision is fine, my eyes look healthy. But I was still wondering about why my eyes are blurry.
Well, he mentioned to wear sunglasses and it clicked. My eyes have been bothering me because my dumb ass hasn’t been wearing eye protection while caring for the plants.
So yeah, this may be a no brainer for you vets but for me it obviously wasn’t. Wear eye protection, even if you don’t think you need to. The lights don’t really hurt my eyes when I’m in the tent but I definitely notice the effects after.
Roast me in the comments if you must. I’m an idiot. Thankfully I don’t think any permanent damage but who knows what could have happened if I continued to not wear protection.

Full Spectrum LED Glasses
The model that I purchased for my grow is the Resistance 2 FX. While the Evolution FX and Agent939 FX are arguably more stylish options but I really appreciate the full protection you get from wrap around glasses that don’t let any light come in from the side. After all when defoliating your plants in a grow room you’re getting light coming at you from all angles, unlike when you’re outside and dealing with a single light source.
Although LED’s are full spec, if you are getting them with RED diodes as I recommend in the buying guide the LEDs will cast a yellowish hue. Nowhere near as strong as with HPS but still noticeable. The Method Seven FX cut right through this haze giving you a high contrast protected view of the grow.
