There are a number of post online that discuss the Coca-Cola terp fridge for rosin storage. These 4L fridges are sold by and branded under a myriad of companies but the Coca-Cola 4QT/4L mini fridge is often the cheapest and most iconic one. Other options include Koolatron, Caynel and AstroAl. Cannabis companies like 710 Labs out of California or Fume Labs in Canada. have launched their own versions of the product as well.
I bought a mini fridge to test out and see if they’re worth the money and if they meet the claim of cooling 32F below ambient room temp. I used my SensorPush remote temperature monitors to test the temperature difference and temperature stability.
It only takes an hour for the fridge to get to temperature. In my tests it brought the ambient temp down from 74F to 48F, a difference of 26F. I found on average the difference of 26-28F below ambient room temps held up consistently. There were no swings in temperature that might degrade the product through heating cycles.
If you look closely in the above photo you will see the one drawback of these fridges. They do create small amounts of condensation. Unlike in a traditional fridge with a compressor there is no mechanism for removing humidity. I would suggest keeping a paper towel on the bottom rack with a can of coke while keeping the rosin on the top shelf if you live in a humid environment.
The thermoelectric mechanism for cooling is whisper silent and only draws a few watts of power. It’s perfect for throwing in your room to keep concentrates away from kids or roommates. Overall I am happy with the Coca Cola Terp Fridge for the price and would recommend it.
